Pari got a letter from her pen pal, but it was addressed to three people:
Dear Pari, Pooch, and Star
Come to my house. I have a game and its name is Settlers of Catan.
I miss you.
Lots and lots of hearts.
So. Incredibly. Cute.
Pari is trying to negotiate a trip for a play date. ;-) I'm telling her writing a letter back would be more feasible right now.

Let's see, the girly girl started an intro to piano class on Monday. It's only for the week. We'll see how she does. She did play me Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star last night, so I have hope she might get this whole music thing. She's also got a couple of dress patterns to sew this summer. One of them involves ruffling. We'll do the easy sew pattern first.
We've been horribly neglectful and have not signed her up for swim classes. We probably should, but it's probably just as well with as crappy as the weather has been. They teach summer classes mostly mornings in the outdoor pool, and it's been cold enough for light jackets three times this week.
Need to take the boy swimming again, too. I'm working on his not-hanging-on-to-me-like-a-terrified-ko ala-bear skill. Once he has that mastered, we might get to some kicking, water treading, and front and back floating.
The boy starts preschool again today. Summer school is super short. It's going to be over before the end of this month, and then there will be two weeks of summer camp and... nothing until fall.

Just checking to see if cross-posting works. My guess is it does. That eliminates the need to migrate, which is good, because I've got a permanent LJ, a FriendFeed, a Twitter, and a ton of other things I use.
Yay, it works.

Everyone else is doing it. Someone have an invite code they can give me?
So the hubby had some stuff to do in the city today and decided to drop me off at work. I took everyone out to the cafeteria for breakfast, since I'm fancy like that. Anyway, there's a decent breakfast selection. Among the things Pari got was a pancake with strawberries and whip cream on top. While she was chewing, she put her arms in the air, twisted back and forth, and declared, "This is my delicious dance!"
Man, I love that girl.

So Pari begged to let me show her how to make coffee. I did, with many warnings about which steps involve scalding liquids that should only be handled with adult supervision, and then she and Kiyan shared a cup of heavily whitened Joe. Is it bad that even my primarily nonverbal child knows how to say coffee?
Saw Mamma Mia! last night. Was from my Netflix queue. Part of the Harold-won't-rent-but-he'll-secretly-lov e collection. Anyway, we got to the ending credits, and they started singing Waterloo. I remarked that I wondered how in the world they'd manage to work that one into the movie. He looked at me very confused.
Seems he didn't realize that this was a musical of only ABBA songs. Giggle.
Anyway, he pointed out one of those facts you can't ignore once you realize it. The plot revolves around a 20 year old and her mother's unintended pregnancy, right? Meryl Streep and the supporting friends and "dads" are all about 60. That takes them out of the youthful indescretion range by a bit. Ooops.

Finally got around to watching Friday's episode last night. Damn. Show finally got to the good episode. I'm just not in Buffy-Firefly-Angel love with this show, but it just finally got interesting. Which, of course, means it won't be renewed. As if we ever wondered if Fox would treat a Joss show fairly, right?
Pari lost another tooth today. It had been hanging by a thread forever. She lost it at school, where they have a box for taking it at home, and she still managed to lose the box. This= my surprised look.
Anyway, we told her a note was just as good to put under her pillow. So she showed me her note. "My tooth got lost." With a drawing of a tooth. Awwww. And she spelled all the worlds right.

Got outside in time to see it, woo hoo! Pari was definitely impressed.
Pari had an envelope way in the bottom of he backpack. Turns out it was a birthday party invite. For a party that happened last week. Oops.
She swears no one gave it to her. It's possible the classmate just stuck it in her backpack, but I'm guessing it got handed to her as she was stuffing other things in there and she just forgot. She has a specific homework/parental notes folder, so we just weren't looking for extra things. At least she had a good attitude about it and remarked that she had gotten to go to someone else's party this year.

Overly elaborate meals, that's what. I'm getting ready to eat baby green salad with chayote, blood oranges, and soft goat cheese with raspberry vinaigrette. Seafood and andouille gumbo over saffron rice, and roasted acorn squash.
I haven't been posting much, but I wanted to mention that Kiyan has been talking up a storm recently. He's starting to sing songs, label colors, and is in a big "no" phase, but mostly it's for things he really means no on. So all good things.

They still need the lenses filled, but here they are. Yay!
ETA - moved pic so it would show up.
Does this post from iGoogle?
